Won the Penelope and Edward Bilson travelling scholarship, design excellence, from University of Melbourne where he holds a Bachelor of Architecture. Architect and Urban Designer. Interested in what makes cities vibrant, connected and civil. 2007 won a 40th anniversary Churchill Fellowship to research urban density and culture, with reference to public and private space. 2009 Property Council of Australia National Future Leader award; furthered discussion about Australian cities and living environments. Has taught at University of Melbourne and University of Technology Sydney. A principal of the Sydney SJB practice since 2002. Amanda Roberts Director, Urban Design, Melbourne

Amanda Roberts is an Urban Designer with experience in both the private and government sectors in delivering and advocating for thoughtful design within the context of competing needs. Amanda is passionate about Urban Design and its role in the delivery of engaging spaces which contribute to the community’s quality of life. Francisco Layson Associate Director, Urban Design, Sydney

Francisco has qualifications and professional experience in Urban Design and Architecture. Graduating with a Masters of Architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) in the top 15% of his class, his studies primarily focused on Environmental performance and Urban Design. Since graduating Francisco has tutored 2nd and 3rd year architectural students in these fields at UTS and is currently leading SJB’s parametric modelling program. During the past 5 years Francisco has developed a unique breadth of skills and experience from his work in both the public and private sector, where he has become accustomed to working and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Jonathan Knapp Director, Urban Design, Sydney

Director and founder of SJB Urban Design in Sydney. Leads complex urban and greenfield master plans that respect cultural, built, environmental site values. Believes in open consultative process, and finding solutions to urban problems through collaborative design. Qualifications in urban design, architecture, town planning. Approach to urban design and planning forged during eight years in London studying at Bartlett School of Architecture and working for BDP (Building Design Partnership). As a BDP associate, gained experience of master planning, design, regeneration and community projects in UK, China, India, Turkey, Russia, Italy, Canada.
